DLM Dashboard

DLM Dashboard (previously called SQL Lighthouse) is a tool that monitors your database schemas in order to alert you about unexpected changes – often called database drift. Once alerted, users can choose to take remedial action. This might be to rollback the change, apply it to another database or script the change into version control. To find out more about what DLM Dashboard does and how it works, please visit our “website”: http://www.red-gate.com/products/dlm/dlm-dashboard/.

If you have any questions or need help with Redgate’s free tool DLM Dashboard, please visit our “support forums”: http://www.red-gate.com/MessageBoard/viewforum.php?f=176.

  1. When adding a pre-existing SQL User mapped to a SQL Login to a Database Role, the DLM exposes the password of the SQL Login. The change has nothing to do with the login. Even if the login was touched, DLM should mask the password. This is a severe security breach. Please fix this asap.

  3. When adding a new server it would be great to specify the default Category for databases on this server.

Adding Databases to the Dashboard on our DEV server would then automatically be added to the Development Category, rather than me having to select it for each one.

  4. I have an idea, you should create a feature to help us convert sql query to logical chart. This is a useful feature for us

  5. Incredible stupid you don't warn people a new db was going to be created, or give the option to put on a local server.

  6. Stop page refresh. I can't get through even a short change without the page refreshing. If there is a way to turn it off, I can't find it.

  7. I am using 'Category' to group my databases by data stage / purpose ('Reference' 'Application' 'ETL' 'Analysis'), and I would like to be able to assign a single 'reference' database to multiple pipelines.

  8. It would be great to be able to color code categories so that they are easily identifiable in the pipeline view. For my use case, I have categories assigned to 'Reference' 'Application' 'ETL/Prep' 'Analysis' and I use my pipeline view to visualize the flow (I know this isnt the tool for lineage..).

  9. We have an old vendor that temporarily creates and deleted tables (instead of using #temp Tables), so I get notification every time the app creates and drops one of those tables...would be nice to be able to filter those out...maybe filter to ignore objects named TABLE.MultiSelect*

    Handy tool though!

    Thanks!

    [Selected] smallint NOT NULL ,
    [Fund] varchar(6) NOT NULL ,
    [Fund Name] varchar(50) NOT NULL…

  11. I can't justify a tool that needs to place a new database on every server that I monitor. Either let me pick one location for the environment that can be placed anywhere, or have an option for a local express or file-based database. I really wanted to check this software out, but I can't...

  12. Each drift shows the user who made changes, but you cannot filter to just that user's changes. Makes for a lot of scrolling.

  13. A series of changes are shown. The DBA can either approve them, or decline them, and if decline, run reversal scripts as needed? May be too complex, but would be wonderful!

  14. I just did a new release which had a lot of changes in it. Now I can't acknowledge those change because the refresh rate of the system is to tight. Either need to be able to turn it off for a bit or change the rate so that I have time to put a version number and comment in and click acknowledge.

  15. I use IP addresses for dev/qa servers. Having a friendly name would be helpful at a glance

  16. It would be useful if the changed objects could be listed without the T-SQL code being displayed.
Some form of a toggle switch so that the code could be hidden/displayed would suffice

  17. The screen is constantly refreshing, and will refresh away before I'm done entering my comments. This is very frustrating!

  18. There must be many users that would want to migrate the entire installation and history to a new host. But we can not find any help on this.

  19. If there are differences the system could suggest that a schema compare be done on the databases.

  20. As some of the changes might be done by a procedure schedule through a SQL agent job, it would be very helpfull if a filter could be applied to ignore changes made by specific users.
