Retrieve BETA Updates when checking for updates
I usually run the latest version of the beta and it would be nice if "Check for Updates" would pick up the latest version version of SQL Prompt, including any beta versions.
Perhaps this could be an option for those that aren't interested in participating in betas.3 votesSQL Prompt 7 now has a button to toggle beta updates on the check for updates dialog.

Add ParserLookBackDistance and ParserLookAheadDistance values to the Options menu
Due to the length of some of the queries I write, I have to edit the file RedGateSqlPromptEngine_EngineOptions.xml manually. It would be nice to be able to edit the values for ParserLookBackDistance and ParserLookAheadDistance in the Options menu. I understand the drawbacks of making these values too large. If they were in the Options menu I could adjust them for a long query and then set them back for shorter queries.

SQL Prompt tries to retrieve objects from other databases
After upgrading to SQL Prompt 6 (6.1), I notice reduced performance and I occasionally get "SQL Prompt cannot retrieve objects from <some database name>. (etc)", which reference a database that I do not use or am ever likely to use and IIRC have never used. It seems SQL Prompt is trying to cache objects for all databases on the connected server. That would be overkill, and only serves to slow it down and cause errors such as the one mentioned.
3 votesThis was likely due to the synonym support added in 6 which will try to offer suggestions by loading databases that the synonyms are referencing. In the latest build of Prompt this is optional (under Suggestions→Connections) and off by default.

Enable "reconnect to server" on SSMS startup
Reopening tabs is a great feature. HOWEVER, to have all the tabs sit there saying "not connected" means I have to manually reconnect to every one of them. Quel pain! Being in the middle of a time-crunch project with 12 tabs sitting there all disconnected motivated this request...
Please present the Tab Magic overlay and give us:
1. the option to "connect to last connected server with last-used credentials" for selected tabs.
2. the option to choose another server from the list (it's OK if the connect dialog pops up once the overlay is dismissed).
3. the option to remove…3 votes -

query history starts at Open Queries;
I would like a config open so that the dropdown of queries starts at OPEN QUERIES not all queries
also, I would like it when my mouse hovers over the magic tab button for it to just expand... the extra click makes it less magic

SQL Tab Magic - When searching query history the text in the preview pane jumps to the left
Hi,
First, I like the new design, and thank you for make it available for SSMS 2012.
I have 2 problems:
1. I missing the Option button (I don't wont it to open recently closed queries on start-up).
2. When I'm searching for term in the Query History dialog, and hovering above one of the files in the left pane, its query text in the preview pane jumps to the somewhere in the file and move a bit to the left. I assumes it suppose to jump to the first match, but, it is not always even in the frame.…3 votesWe’ve released SQL Prompt 6 which includes a fix for these.

Format selected code
Formatting a section (selected code block) with CTRL+K, CTRL+Y). This would allow me to highlight a section of a proc and format it to my liking and leave the (abomination) of the proc body untouched.

Bring back native SSMS intellisense when disabling SQL prompt
When disabling SQL prompt (or when a trial ends) the default SSMS intellisense is not getting back to work.
This is especially important since there are a lot areas that the native SSMS intellisense is much better than SQL prompt (I will try to post all of them), so one might try to take advantage of it.3 votesThis is included in SQL Prompt 6.4, which you can download from http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-development/sql-prompt/

Give us a configurable option to "Always show table schema in suggestions list"
We use a separate schema (z_audit) to capture data changes from dbo tables as a complete audit trail. The tables in each schema are named the same. Every time I come to the suggestions list, I either take it as read that the top table listed is in the dbo schema, or must click that little arrow at bottom-left to "show schema", involving having to grab the mouse just to expose the schema when we're supposed to be efficiently keying; no mousing involved unless we need to use a different suggestions tab...
An option that toggles this to OUR preference…

Option to sort column lists by table order as rather than alphabetically
Have an option to sort the column list as it appears in the table rather than alphabetically. I have a good memory for where the functionality sits in the table, but I don't always remember the name. Columns are often logically placed in the table.

Add current stored procedure name to prompt
I write a lot of stored procedures, and one of the nice things about SQL Refactor was that the names of new procedures would autocomplete. For example, "CREATE PROCEDURE WHATEVERPROCEDURENAME" would autocomplete "WHATEVERPROCEDURENAME" if I typed "GRANT EXECUTE ON W". It's a minor convenience to be sure, but it's also frustrating to see you favorite features disappear.

Please add support for new SQL Functions such as DATE_BUCKET
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/functions/date-bucket-transact-sql?view=sql-server-ver16Currently it get quoted which is quite inconvenient.
declare @date datetime2 = '2020-04-30 21:21:21' Select 'Week', DATE_BUCKET(WEEK, 1, @date) Union All Select 'Day', DATE_BUCKET(DAY, 1, @date) Union All Select 'Hour', DATE_BUCKET(HOUR, 1, @date) Union All Select 'Minutes', DATE_BUCKET(MINUTE, 1, @date) Union All Select 'Seconds', DATE_BUCKET(SECOND, 1, @date);
