How can we improve our Oracle tools?

Compare tables with different tablenames

Could you please make it possible to compare tables with different tablenames?

This should be applied to all tools.

I do believe this is possible in the SQL Server-tools.

        Hi
We compare data every month, in order to find diff. between versions.
We duplicate our tables and add a prefix to each of them.
So we need to compare tables with diff. names.
I would appreciate being informed , when this feature is available.

        Thanks
        Yossi

This is one functionality that is needed for my company to be able to use this tool. The reason we have different table names is because we create table via program executables, then we copy those tables to backup table name, then we run a new test version of the program and then compare those tables. Therefore, more times than not the tables reside in the same schema but they are name differently, thus I would be comparing these two tables: OUTPUT_BCK to OUTPUT.

        Hi Thomas,

You are correct, this is a feature in SQL Data Compare. It is a good suggestion and we will consider it for an upcoming release. Can I ask why you have tables with different names that you want to compare? Do you add a prefix to those tables?

        Thanks,
        Neil
