Migrations support for git
Please add Git support for migration scripts
A subset of the team has been working on this issue and we think we have a solution (on paper). We are starting a technical review with the entire development team to see if it is feasible.
I do not have an expected release yet, but will update this suggestion as we progress.

Very disappointed to find that data migrations are not supported for Git. Hope it will be added soon.

Hi Stephanie, This is a feature our company is waiting on because we have to move over to GIT but Red Get is not supporting the migration feature. So, the entire process is on hold and we are thinking of alternatives.

q42jaap, if (and I may be wrong) you are responding to my statement, I didn't mean to suggest that it was a no brainer technically....I have no doubt that it is very difficult, but it should a no brainer in terms of priority for the product. It is a great product, but hard to justify purchasing it for our whole team until it supports this feature.

It's not that simple as it seems, things like git flow, branches etc make things more difficult. The shared database vs dedicated database further complicates things. Let's be patient!

I'm also adding a vote for Git Migrations support. Can't buy this without it.

Our company already use SQL Comparer. But implementing the migration feature for Git ( control system that we are using) will save our time and nervous.

Any update on the time frame for this? The Mercurial thread is estimating the end of 2012, is this true for Git as well?

Is there any news on GIT support? It's 7 months since David said they will start investigating it...

+1 to this is a must-have feature. As a git shop I feel left out of the redgate migration fun. :(

Git support would certainly add value to our investment in redgate.

Shouldn't migrations work with any source control system? It's just files right?

The ability to handle migrations in GIT will probably be the one reason that causes us to not buy the product. While I haven't seen migrations in other SQL source control software, that's the reason we haven't bought anything yet.

@David we're in March now and my biggest issue with the current GIT implementation of Migrations is that when I go to use it, I get 'Migration scripts are not currently supported for your source control system.' Installed Version = 3.0.5.7
