How can we improve SQL Search?

'Add option to the context menu for a result to open the item for modification' has been merged into this idea

Add "alter object" next to "select object in object explorer"

For example on a stored procedure, it's time consuming to first click select object in explorer, then right click on the object, then click modify. For a table, same, but clicking design. Plus sometimes if the database sproc isn't expanded yet its slow as the left side menu bounces around expanding first...

    The same behaviour as F12 shortcut from Sql Prompt would be great

    and the default action of double clic should be "alter object"

    Excellent: But use "drop and create to" instaed so not to destroy the debugging with wrong editions in cache.

    definitely needed. Note there are at least 4 different suggestions now that cover this idea and the related context menu idea. Can the moderator please combine these so the vote count is reflected. thanks

    Under the search results and above the script of he selected result is a link "Select object in Object Explorer" - you could add another link for "ALTER script in query editor" and/or "DROP/CREATE script in query editor".

    Please add this to the Right Click context menu for Search Results too. So I can search for something, right click it, select "Script as Alter" and get a new query window the the alter script.
