  1. The git integration does not seem to work AT ALL. Add reports status code 1, delete fails because the file has already been deleted.

We believe the Git integration is working for most customers – if you are encountering error messages, our support team at support@red-gate.com should be able to get you up and running again.

  2. Displaying the History is awesome, but it would be nice to be able to modify the comments right there in the history window.

  3. When attempting to check in all items from an existing database just added to source control, I get a failure during the updating source control stage - with a message Can't move 'C:\Users\Bernard Sheppard\AppData\Local\Red Gate\SQL Source Control 0\WorkingBases\f196519a-df23-4f68-abca-564beb28a9dd.svn\tmp\entries' to 'C:\Users\Bernard Sheppard\AppData\Local\Red Gate\SQL Source Control 0\WorkingBases\f196519a-df23-4f68-abca-564beb28a9dd.svn\entries': The system cannot find the file specified.

Closing as it’s a very old request and we have marked bug SOC-615 as won’t fix

Closing as request is 6 years old. There is a checkbox in the column header that will quickly allow you to select/unselect all.

  5. It would be awesome to be able to see the history and do a compare between two versions in the repository.

  6. Your policy is:
    Your new password must contain:
    ◾At least 8 characters
    ◾At least 1 lower-case letter
    ◾At least 1 upper-case letter
    ◾At least 1 number
    ◾At least 1 special character

Are you NUTS!?! Not even my bank requires all that. How about 3 out of 5.

Thank you for your feedback. However I’m afraid the password policy to which you are referring is beyond Redgate’s control; it is dictated and enforced by Uservoice, a third party platform which we use for collecting, and responding to, feedback from users.

  7. often when right-clicking an object in the Object Explorer, instead of seeing the menu, one of the SQL Source Control objects is 'automatically' selected and triggered.

Hello! We’re going to believe that this was actually a hardware issue, not specific to SQL Source Control.

If we’re wrong, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to reopen it!

We believe this needs to be setup on your source control system and not on the SQL Source Control client.

For SVN users, configure a pre-commit hook to require comments.

For TFS users, this would be done through a policy, but we currently ignore these. If this is something you would like, please vote/comment at http://redgate.uservoice.com/forums/39019-sql-source-control/suggestions/726952-evaluate-tfs-policies-when-committing-db-changes.

    Thank you!

  9. I'd like the ability to filter unwanted databases out of the treeview in Object Explorer.

I work with SQL instances which contain 100+ databases but I'll only be working with approx. 5 of them. It would save me a huge amount of time if only the databases I wanted to work with were shown.

This would also be useful for anyone connecting to a SQL instance for shared web hosting as they'll likely only be interested in a single database out of the hundreds that would be listed in SSMS.

This is already available in SSMS. (I think from v16+.) Just click the Databases folder in the Object Explorer and then click on the filter icon at the top of the Object Explorer to the right of the Connect drop down.

  10. Hello,
We are using SourceControl with TFS2012.
Sometinmes, when we commit our database, Redgate delete itself one ForeignKey of a table.

We have not found why certain key and certain table are concerned...

    Tks for advance,
    GR

  11. We use synonyms when accessing data through linked servers. If the synonym is changed to use a new linked server Source Control does not detect that change.

  14. I have msysGit installed (from GitExtensions). And somehow the cgywin-mapping of the folder does not work in RedGate SQL Sourcecontrol:

    Command:
    git commit -F "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\nt4wfooh.nsc.txt" -o "C:\GitFolder\"

    Output:
error: pathspec 'C:\GitFolder\' did not match any file(s) known to git.

  16. I am trying to get this setup on a proprietary database system. There are hundreds of SPROCS, VIEWS, etc that are created WITH ENCRYPTION -- objects that are created WITH ENCRYPTION should be ignored since theres no way to decrypt them.

  18. Trying to commit large number of changed objects to source control causes complete hang of RG Source and SSMS. I have to halt SSMS in Task Manager, and none of my changes are committed. The same TFS, SQL Server, and db are accessible and usable via other SQL Source integration (ApexSQL Edit and VS2010). Only difference is a different local and TFS path for our RG testing. Otherwise this should work.

Did you have this problem with previous versions? Please get in touch with support@red-gate.com if you are still experiencing this problem.

We have seen this problem caused by interactions with some other software… Do you have any of the following installed on your machine?
    - Microsoft Security Essentials
    - Windows Indexing Service
    - Virus scanners
    - Anti Trojan software

If so, could you make sure they are excluding our directory
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Red Gate\Logs\SQL Source Control
    or
    C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Red Gate\Logs\SQL Source Control

Please let us know if excluding this directory fixes the issue.

  19. I understand the difficulties that would exist with rolling back to previous versions of tables based on changes that may have occurred to data, relationships, etc., and rolling back sprocs/functions would have similar potential consequences. But being able to view a change history per entity and have the option to revert has got to make it into the feature pipeline if it's not already...

  20. In the Source Control window I check severall objects and then, when I right click on Undo, a new window opens that only keeps one of the selected objects checked. And this new "Undo" window does not show code differences between DB and Source control. This forces me to Undo each object one at a time. Please keep all selected objects when using the Undo option

This is already possible in the tool:

It’s the row selections that are recognised by this feature. So you need to use Shift or Ctrl to select the items you’d like to undo, then right click and select undo. This will result in the entire selection being checked in the next screen.
