Release the Ability to Buy the Professional Version?
I was about to release my project and purchased SQL Compare, only to discover that it is no longer the Professional version I expected. I couldn’t find any way to acquire the Pro license, which cost me valuable production time and caused me to miss my release window.
In desperation, I even tried installing legacy versions where I already had Pro licenses, but that only highlighted how frustrating and broken this experience feels.
If Redgate no longer wants to sell its Professional product, why confuse existing customers by quietly removing it? Why push us into a downgraded version without making the differences crystal clear?
It almost feels like the expectation is that your sales team will call me later, after I’ve already lost time and momentum, to offer the Pro license as an "upgrade." Is that really the business model?
I have never seen such a strategy in software sales before. Unfortunately, this has taught me a very valuable lesson how quickly a trusted brand can damage its own reputation. Soo my idea is to make the Pro license available again on your homepage or any other place (without dealing with your sales department)?
