  1. I recently had to use SQL Compare to create a rather large add new and update deployment script.
I was pleased that it picked up User Defined Types in addition to the normal tables and stored procedures.
But it did not pick up the permissions for the User Defined Types, and that was a failure point when executing the stored procedures.
This was my first time working with User Defined Types before, and I thought it odd they needed permissions at all. I did not apply any in the development environment, and they worked there.
    But the error was clearly…

  2. It would be great if SQL Data Compare/SQL Compare work with External Tables in Azure Synapse Serverless database.

  3. When using SQL Change Automation command line, it would be helpful to suppress warnings for ignored statements. Since these scripts are checked into source control, these warnings will get long over time with addition of more scripts.

  5. I've recently hit a problem when using SQL Compare (which was logged as request #322451).

I am reasonably sure the issue is with the database, not the tool, but when using debug logging, there's just not enough information to understand why it gets stuck on "reading object text (99%)" for over 20 minutes for a specific database, yet is very fast on other similarly sized databases.

Some additional logging during the comparison phase might help to work out why this is happening.

  6. We need an option to ignore the difference when the same keywords or built-in functions have different cases, since those differences do not matter even for binary collation databases.
Example of irrelevant differences is attached

  7. In SQL Compare when you choose to Deploy changes and then wish to Create a deployment script it wants you to open it up in a SQL editor. Because I am using newer versions of SSMS or I am running it on a different deployment server from my local machine it would be helpful to just be able to copy it to the clipboard so it can then be run manually..

  8. I have installed SQL Compare tool with other options. This has added some Redgate features on my SSMS. When I click on procedures and right click to filter SSMS keep closing automatically and then I have to open SSMS again. This was not happening before I installed red gate SQL compare tool.

  9. Hello Redgate Team,

I would like to suggest a feature enhancement for SQL Compare. In many deployments, object lists (tables, procedures, views, etc.) are already maintained in Excel/CSV files. Selecting hundreds of objects manually in the comparison grid is time-consuming and error-prone.

It would be very helpful if SQL Compare could import an external file (Excel/CSV/text) containing object names and automatically select the matching objects in the results.

This would greatly improve efficiency and reduce manual effort in large-scale deployments.

Thank you for considering this idea.
