  1. Hi

We're looking at automating a lot of things (currently got the automation of creating images and clones down to a couple of PowerShell scripts).

The script I'm currently working on will create a clone, create an Azure project/repository and clone to a local directory.
What I'm trying to do now is to automate linking the clone (in SSMS) to the local repository but I can't anything on CLIs for Source Control.

It doesn't look like this is currently possible but would be really useful.

    Regards

    Richard

We are not planning to have a CLI for SQL Source Control. We have a CLI for Flyway, our multi-database versioning and automation solution. If you're interested, you can import a SQL Source Control project into Flyway and keep your Git history (https://documentation.red-gate.com/fd/transitioning-from-other-redgate-tools-164167855.html). You can then use Flyway's CLI (https://documentation.red-gate.com/fd/automate-developer-workflows-271584321.html). If you have any questions about this, please find some time on my calendar to talk - https://calendly.com/stephanie-herr/15min-1. Thank you!

  2. I get the message "Connect your databases to your source control system" yet I have selected the database. The video at http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-development/sql-source-control/ is irrelevant as it assumes the software works.
Not the best impression during evaluation.

  3. I think the toolbar should be named something other than 'Red Gate' - all the other RG toolbars have meaningful names : 'SQL Search', 'SQL Tab Magic'

SQL Source Control is the first application to use a single Red Gate toolbar and the other tools will follow suit as new versions are released.

  4. I have msysGit installed (from GitExtensions). And somehow the cgywin-mapping of the folder does not work in RedGate SQL Sourcecontrol:

    Command:
    git commit -F "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\nt4wfooh.nsc.txt" -o "C:\GitFolder\"

    Output:
error: pathspec 'C:\GitFolder\' did not match any file(s) known to git.

  5. I am trying to get this setup on a proprietary database system. There are hundreds of SPROCS, VIEWS, etc that are created WITH ENCRYPTION -- objects that are created WITH ENCRYPTION should be ignored since theres no way to decrypt them.

Ryan, we’ll contact you directly to check over a couple of things relating to this error. Thanks!

  7. We have migrated to a new server. Everytime I want to link a DB to source control, the old server comes up as the default in the screen "Link Database to Source Control". How can I change this default behaviour?
