How can we improve our Oracle tools?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Optional, exclude by default dependent (affected) objects from deploy

In 99% of cases i need NOT to deploy affected objects. I do small, incremental deploys.

So i need an option so that SOCO, at deploy, will uncheck be default the checkbox "Deploy all affected objects" and to uncheck all the items in the affacted items list.

There are cases when, if I forget to uncheck "Deploy all affected objects."and to uncheck "objects affected" I will put some productions down.

    • Filter objects by user custom text filter

I have multiple different objects between schema and i nedd to compare only onjects (filter objects) that corespond to a more complex criteria (not just by name). I would filter for example by creation date (in a certain interval), object type, eventually the name, and other custom criteria.

It would be very nice that in the project properties (or near the filter by name) user could have an edit box to edit the custom criteria.

For example, criteria could look like:
      (object_name like 'TR%' or object_name like '%BN') and object_type in ('VIEW', 'TABLE') and created_date>sysdate-3)

      The list of coulumn names…

      • Filter objects by created date

I have many different objects in my schemas, but i need to syncronize only objects created within last hours or day. It would be very nice to optionally filter object after a creatino date (or the objects that have creaing date).

I will put a new suggestion about a complete custopm filter (a string edited by user that is added to the where clause of SOCO)

        • Oracle-to-SQL Server migration/synchronization

I have 2 current opportunities with a couple of the largest company's in the US/UK for Oracle-to-SQL Server migration for both and synchronization for 1. This is a big space to get into, but judging from experience with Red Gate in the SQL Server space, I think Red Gate can grab significant market share from the likes of GoldenGate.

          • I have check ignore schema in object comparison, however, Triggers still show as changed due to schema. Is this a bug or intentional?

The triggers in my database show that the schema is there when looking at the create sql via sql developer.
I have checked to ignore schema's in object comparison.
The source control for oracle sql does not have the schema in it.
Consequently the tool shows all triggers that have the schema as changes.

Shouldn't these be avoided due to checking of schema in edit comparison options...?

              • Separate the Include Storage Option - “tablespaces and partitioning” into two options

With the release of Schema Compare for Oracle V3.1.3, the one Ignore Storage Option was split into 7 separate options (plus the Include All Storage Options). One of the 7 separate options is the “tablespaces and partitioning”.

Please consider splitting the option into two separate options one for "tablespaces' and the other for 'partitioning'.

                • Add the ability to use a simple wild character when configuring a filter in Source Control for Oracle

The filtering limitation to just “contains” is really frustrating and very time consuming.

                  · How hard can it be to use one simple wild card (“*” or “%”) to define patterns? That way I can specify a specific object name, i.e. “s” or all objects starting with, i.e. “s*”, or any object containing, i.e. “*s*”, or any object ending with, i.e. “*s”. This would add so much for so little. This seems to be an enormous oversight and by far my single biggest frustration with the tool.

                  · Not as important but useful would be being able to have different…

I need to see column differences independently of field order which are not as important. How do I do this in redgate

                      • Add support for command line execution under Mono

From research performed by an existing customer, who believes "you just need to have the command line utility create registry entries if they're missing when it starts. You could add a flag instead if you would prefer not to do that automatically.

I need this because I'm trying to automate the build of an application that must be compiled on Linux. At the moment, I have SCO.EXE running as a separate build configuration running on a separate agent on a Windows machine, but that is burning a configuration and a build agent that could be better utilized if each agent…

                          • Job related additional objects

Add the ability to compare / snapshot Oracle chains, programs, and scheduler / DBMS jobs owned by the schema. They can reference a PLSQL block in the chain too. A chain that references a stored procedure will have the target in there already under the "Procedures" section.

                                    • Source control for oracle polling interval should be configurable in UI while creating project

Source control for oracle polling interval should be configurable in UI like minutely/hourly/daily/weekly. This will help us reduce the burden in environments like test/uat/prod, where we don't this to become a performance issue.

                                      • Reporting Feature in Data Compare for Oracle

Please add further granularity to the number of rows to include when generating a HTML report. Currently the user can choose to "Only include first 1000 rows" or including all rows.

Please add further options to select:
                                        Only include first 10 rows.
                                        Only include first 1000 rows.
Only include 'x' number of rows.
