New SQL Compare Project on Launch
I want to change the setting that opens up the most recent project when I launch data compare or compare. Too often I start editing the most recent compare unintentionally. On launch I want a new project open every time. The user should have control over this behavior.
3 votesIn the ‘My Projects’ window there is a checkbox at the bottom left to always show this screen at start up. From here you can select ‘New…’ to launch a new project.
It’s not quite launching a new project by default, but that is only a single click away.

Manage indexes separately from tables
When comparing tables, additions/changes in indexes are included as part of the differences to the table. I would like a way to separate index management from table management. In other words, it would be nice to be able to select a table for modification without including the indexes. I know we can do this from a project level with settings, but if there are many tables selected for change, I would like to be able to include the indexes for some tables and not others. Also, it would be nice to be able to select individual indexes on a given…
192 votesAt this time, we don't have any plans to separate indexes because it's a big architectural change.

Version 12 UI Scaling
Fonts displayed in comparison listing are too tiny, especially on Surface Pro 4. Menu bar also not scaled according to Windows Scaling.
2 votesUnfortunately we haven’t been able to reproduce this, so I’m closing it for now – feel free to add more information if it becomes available

Color of SQL Compare Icon after 11.5 update
Please change SQL Compare Icon back to blue; If you use both SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare now after 11.5 update they are red.
32 votesThanks for providing feedback on this and sorry for the late response here. We currently have no plans to update the icon since we want keep our branding consistent across the products based on our design framework Honeycomb. You can find more information on this at http://honeycomb.red-gate.com/brand/.

sql compare to format both sides
I would love to have an option to auto-format both sides of the query in SQL Compare to really see the difference between the two regardless of formatting changes
4 votesThanks for your suggestion. This is basically a duplicate of https://redgate.uservoice.com/admin/forums/141379-sql-compare/suggestions/2454570-format-compare-using-sql-prompt-format – to avoid splitting the vote, I’m going to decline this one to give you your votes back for the other one :-)

Please do not deprecate /MigrationsFolderXML
Hi,
We are using SQL Compare extensively in our company department and one of the features we are enjoying is the ability to generate the scriptsfolderxml and migrationsfolderxml on the fly based on which database we want to deploy.
In my view deprecating this feature will leave the product in a degerated state. The option is then to use the /migrationsfolder but first I will have to manually sync the migrations folder from source control and then point to it. Sure it is doable but definitely not preferable.
4 votesSorry for the delay in responding to this request. As Sergio notes in this forum thread ( https://forum.red-gate.com/discussion/80946/migrationsfolderxml-in-sqlcompare-12 ) the option has been removed from SQL Compare, since version 12 is now using the new migrations model from SQL Source Control 5 which doesn’t require this extra parameter to work.

Too buggy
The program crashes, hangs up and the scripts created using the Tool donot make the changes as expected. I am reverting back to version 10.7.
1 voteYou should have had an email from our Support people who can help you with bug-related problems – I’ve closed this request because it’s not a single specific feature request, and I hope Support can help with the problems you’re experiencing.

Azure SQL Data Warehouse and PDW
It would be nice to also support PDW databases
247 votesAt this time, we don't have any plans to support Azure SQL Data Warehouse or PDW. Since the last comment was in 2019, we're declining this at this time.

Support for Compact Edition (.sdf file)
A lot of CMS packages use SQL Compact Edition databases, and it would be really useful to be able to compare those.
11 votesThanks for providing feedback for this and sorry for the late response.
Since Microsoft deprecated SQL Compact Edition (refer to https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/776328/port-sql-compact-to-windows-rt#ctl00_MasterBody_upCommunityComments), we have no plans to support this.

Views, Tables and Stored Procedures should be scripted in order of dependency
script creator should be better aware of dependencies such that creating/altering a view or stored proc only occurs AFTER the underlying table has been updated to include the new dependencies. Currently the differences are scripted properly but just not always in order
29 votesThis should be happening already – if you have a specific example of it going wrong, can you send email to support@red-gate.com detailing what’s happening?
We know there are still a few cases out there where it doesn’t quite go right, but we’re trying to stamp them out where we find them!

Mark a difference as a known difference to be ignored in future comparisons
When I am comparing 2 DBs, there are many differences that I want to ignore - is there a way to mark some differences as known so that they can be excluded from comparison when needed

Migration to multiple databases
Add ability to create a migration script and deploy to multiple databases with one button click.
17 votesHi,
This can be achieved using our new deployment tool, Deployment Manager:
http://www.red-gate.com/delivery/deployment-manager/It uses the SQL Compare engine under the hood to do deployments of databases.
We just added the ability to publish databases to Deployment Manager directly from Management Studio:
http://www.red-gate.com/delivery/deployment-manager/getting-started-with-ssms-addinI’d be interested in your feedback on how this tool meets your needs.
Best wishes,
Justin
