Migrations support for Git/Mercurial
It seems that right now migrations only support SVN, TFS and Vault - none of which I'm willing to use anymore. Please consider prioritizing support for Git/Mercurial.
I am delighted to let you know that this is now released! Migrations support for Git/Mercurial is available – out of beta – in SQL Source Control 5.
If you’re new to SQL Source Control, you can try it out free for 28 days by downloading it from http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-development/sql-source-control/.
If you already have SQL Source Control you can get the new version via Check for updates in the Help menu of SQL Source Control inside SSMS.
You can see Migrations examples and tutorials here: https://documentation.red-gate.com/display/SOC5/Migration+script+examples
Thank you for your continued support, and please let us know if you have further feedback on this capability, or any others, in SQL Source Control!

I'd also like to know the status please. Considering the popularity of this request it surely warrants an update. In the meantime you should make it clear in your marketing that your Mercurial and GIT support is only part support.

What is the status of this on your "near-term roadmap"? If you are not planning on supporting this within the next few months, please let us know so we can get our money back or start implementing other solutions.

+1 for SQL Source migration scripts for GIT,
is there expected release (date) for this feature? -

The ability to handle migrations in GIT will probably be the one reason that causes us to not buy the product. While I haven't seen migrations in other SQL source control software, that's the reason we haven't bought anything yet.

We are setting up continuous integration and deployment to our staging and production servers and will need the mercurial support for migration scripts. We've purchased several licenses in preparation for this only to find out that migration scripts are not supported for mercurial.

Can you add AccuRev to this list to add to Migrations too please.

@David we're in March now and my biggest issue with the current GIT implementation of Migrations is that when I go to use it, I get 'Migration scripts are not currently supported for your source control system.' Installed Version = 3.0.5.7

Also Fogbugz/Kiln shop and when I was reading up on migration script it was what I needed to solve a column rename data loss problem.
+1 for native Mercurial in SQL Source Control
Uttered choice words when discovered that it does not work with Mercurial. But what is more frustrating is that column renames work seamlessly in SQL Compare 10.
Personally I would have expected SQL Source control to have nearly all the functionality of SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare already built into the product, but as have been discovering lately, there is a big gap in functionality between what can be put under Source Controls vs what is available from the Compare products.
In agreement with Arthur Blake. Most people I know are either Mercurial or git. And those I know that are using TFS, are in the process of moving to mercurial/github.

We are using a FogBugz + Kiln bug tracking and code management implementation, and we really need the Mercurial piece of SQL Source Control to be finished before we can use it in a production environment.

Adding my voice to the hoarde here. I just demoed the basic functions of SSC to my developer team, and we discussed the idea of needing to make changes that might break typical SQLcompare functionality. I told them there shouldn't be a problem, because SSC supports the concept of "Migration Scripts" ... and then found out it doesn't work for Mercurial. We need this if we're to move forward with this product.

>The fact is that the latter two source control systems represent over 50% of the entire market ...
I would say that If it is 50%, it is 50% and shrinking, while mercurial and git are rapidly increasing.
I am evaluating this tool for our team (although we already purchased it under the SQL Developer Bundle) and if important features like this are missing for mercurial, then I'm worried that the overall stability of using this tool with mercurial may be in question.
Our team recently converted from SVN to Mercurial and I was disappointed to not see this new feature supported in Mercurial...
Thanks for your consideration.

@David is there any update as to when we might see this implemented?
-
Timothy Marte commented
Yes, supporting migrations for Mercurial will be a make-or-break for us in proceeding with this tool. We have to be able to massage existing data during the schema update to prevent data loss.

@David-My biggest request is to get migrations functioning with git. I think it is a really useful feature and am disappointed that not all the source controls were included in it's initial release.
-
@Perry - we're going to investigate this shortly. What is for you the main issue with the current GIT implementation? This would help us prioritize.

Is there any update as to when this might be completed? The last acknowledgment I see is 30 days ago on the Mercurial request that RedGate was scheduled to look into the problem.
