Remember search settings in Tab History
At present, when I search (and I hate that the search opens as a new screen), I have to click "advanced search", and select object type of "queries" (I'm really not interested in the query history, I'd rather turn it off but there's no option to do that)
The one thing that would be most useful thought would be to remember the advanced settings between uses - or maybe allow them to be saved as a search default. This would go some way to address the poor user interface changes that have made the new SQL History much harder to use and much less useful than SQL Tab History used to be.

I would love to know how this "Relevance" is determined and who actually prefers this sorting. It drives me insane, regularly.

Yeah, just being able to change the "Advanced Search" defaults and have those changes persist between sessions would remove probably 80% of the friction I'm experiencing with the switch from Tab History to SQL History.
I don't mind the other changes so much, but it's becoming increasingly frustrating to have to change search options every single time I do a search. My exceedingly typical use case is basically "find me that thing I vaguely remember working on a few weeks or a few months ago" and the default options don't return useful results for me. I have to filter out query versions and sort by date, and then I usually get what I'm looking for.
As a bit of an aside, I think that adding query versions to the history is a neat idea, they just happen to muddle up search results for me.
