Feature which should enforce user to lock the object before editing when administrator enables the restrictive policy for the users
Feature which should enforce user to lock the object before editing when administrator enables the restrictive policy for the users
If it is there it will be very much helpful for most of the development projects not testing and production.

Stop forcing acceptance of Database Comparison options in Get Latest tab
Long time user of Redgate Source Control and a really annoying feature is when I'm on the Get Latest tab and there is a change to the Database Comparison options in source control. I can only select the Database Options changes to Get Latest. I cannot opt to get any of the other objects until I 'get' the database options from source control. This is not what is needed. The choice of whether I get the database options should be down to me and I shouldn't be forced to do it. Please make it the same as all other objects…

Add a "Check Static Data" now button to the "Get Latest" tab when auto-check of static data is unselected
We have a rather large schema with numerous static data linked...
When I turn off the automatic check of static data, the Get Latest and commit refresh operations take only seconds!! (Awesome!)
When i turn ON auto check of static data, it takes almost a minute (yawn!).It would be really great if I could have the best of both worlds... Do not automatically check static data, but manually check it as I see fit with a separate button on the GetLatest tab that says "check static data now" or something.

Allow selection of which SSMS instances to install SQL Source Control
Given the size of our databases, SQL Source Control is VERY slow, frequently locking up SSMS for a minute or more.
As a result I'd like to (say) use SSMS 2014 for SQL Source Control, leaving SSMS 2017 free to work with.
Could we please have the option of choosing which SSMS instances to install it against?

Partially contained databases
SQL Source Control should officially support partially contained databases

Search across databases
It would be super helpful to be able to search across all connected databases for checked out objects. We have 20+ databases connected to the source control and searching through each one separately is very painful and time-consuming. Thanks!

It automatically saves my credentials, without asking me!
...on a public computer. This is inadmissible.
3 votesFor now, you can clear your credentials using TortoiseSVN. Go to Settings > Saved Data and “Clear” the Authentication data.

Select first difference automatically
On the Commit Changes tab, please make it show the first difference in the compare pane.
This is particularly helpful where object permissions are changed often, as it becomes a pain to review a list of otherwise unchanged objects that just have new GRANTs on them. An alternative would be to show permissions as a separate entry to the object.
3 votesDid you know? The “Next” button at the top of the diff pane will jump to the next difference in the script. This may help you jump right to where the first change is for now.

fails on more than 200 objects
I have about 800 objects. I can only add 100 to 200 objects at one time. If I try to add too many it fails.
3 votesThis sounds like a problem we’ve seen before. Do you have Microsoft Security Essentials installed? If so, this could cause a problem when committing a large number of objects, which is usually the case when first committing an existing database to source control. Your workaround of doing a smaller partial commit seems to fit this expected behaviour.
To get around this, please configure Security Essentials to exclude LOCALAPPDATA\Red Gate\SQL Source Control 0\ from live protection.

Detecting dependencies on object changes
Hi.
Does SQL Source Control detects and informs that a change in an object, for example, a column in a table changed from INT to BIT, will cause a break in other parts of the system like a stored procedure where that table is used?
If yes, how do I do that? If not, I would like to suggest this as a feature.
Thanks.

Foreign Keys scripted in different order each time table is edited
I've found that frequently when I change something about a table (add a column for example), then when I do a diff of that table from SQL Source Control before checking in, the diff shows that the order of the Foreign Keys has changed. For example, it might list FK1, the FK2, and then FK3 on the left side of the diff, and FK2, FK3, and then FK1 on the right side of the diff. The definitions of the foreign keys have not changed, just the order in which they're scripted. So, this is…

scary stuff when you minimal privileges
I recently connected to my database as a new user with minimal privileges (just data_reader). Later I went to SQL Source control to see changes (forgetting I was logged in as the restricted user) and the output was scary - every SP was marked as deleted and most tables were marked as edited (text replaced with 'encrypted').
I didn't have the courage to hit commit just to see what happened - it was too scary seeing my entire database marked for deletion!

Support Serena PVCS archive
We have used PVCS for 15 years for all our development source control. Is it possible to connect RedGate source control to a PVCS archive?

Get Latest doesn't appear to work
Backup a database which is under revision control (with SQL Source Control), modify an SP and commit it. Then restore the DB (rolls back the SP). Source Control see the changed SP and allows me to commit it, but Get Latest doesn't.

choose subfolders in subversion
When adding a database to source control, all kinds of subfolders as created(data,assemblies,...) but these folder are not finegrained enough. for instance we do it by schema first then we use the same kind of subfolders.
So if we have a Import and Base schema, then in subversion we have the procedure/functions folder under Import and under Base.It would be nice to be able to choose the folders themselves and also where to put a function and so on.. this gives more flexibility.

showing table row count in the link static data screen could help avoid adding large tables
don't have to perform a count, just a quick look at sysindexes would be sufficient.
